A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE 

Hurawalhi’s design integrates modern architectural ascetics and sustainability. This is prevalent on the resorts walkway to the 5.8 Underwater Restaurant, and Kashibo, A Taste of Asia, restaurant, this covered walkway is a purposefully designed solar panel installation.

  • The resort has 2735 solar panels and can generate 700kW of power. This allows the resort to save up to 900L of diesel per day due to solar energy and can thus reduce the emission of Carbon Dioxide by up to 2,115kgs per day as a result.
  • The resort conserves water through the collection of run off water from rain. This allows the resort to lower the consumption of diesel during the purification process, one full day of rain amounts to a saving of 625kWh of energy and 131L of diesel. 
  • Guest’s rooms, staff areas and restaurants utilise reusable glass bottles and paper straws, which has reduced the amount of plastic on the island by more than 60%.
  • The resort is Travel Life accredited and practices responsible sourcing with regards to local ingredients by utilises local suppliers where possible. The business aims to empower and grow the local community, encouraging economic growth and ensuring a self-sustaining future market.
  • Hurawalhi has achieved the internationally recognised Travelife for Hotels & Accommodations Gold Certification. Travelife, the sustainable tourism certification scheme, has assessed Hurawalhi’s performance in responsibly managing its socio – economic and environmental impacts.
